One important hallmark of Clean and Simple designs is the ‘look’ – crisp, sharp, elegant. If your scissors are dull or dirty, you’ll never achieve the CAS look you want. Here are three tips to help you keep your Designer Scissors in tip-top shape and ready for your next CAS project.
The Tool: Stampin’ Up! Detail Scissors #170902
The Problem:
You’re trimming a fine detail, and your scissors feel gummy and heavy, and they’re actually chewing or tearing your cardstock instead of slicing it cleanly.
The Solution:
The 3 Action Steps to Pristine Snips.
1. De-Gunk: Take an ordinary household alcohol prep pad (or a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol) and firmly wipe down both sides of the scissor blades. This instantly dissolves the invisible adhesive residue left behind from glue dots and foam tape.
2. Lubricate: Rub a tiny piece of wax paper vigorously along the sharp edges of the blades. The wax transfers to the metal, creating a slick barrier that prevents future adhesive from sticking to the blades during your next craft session.
3. The Paper Test: Snip a single piece of lightweight scrap paper using only the very tip of the scissors. If it cuts cleanly without catching, your scissors are officially restored to factory-sharp performance!
PRO TIP:
Keep a pair of scissors just for your paper crafting projects. Clean CAS designs require pristine tools. Never use your Detailed Scissors to cut wire, ribbon with metal edges, or household packaging.
